Cocaine Trafficking continues in Guyana

Tuesday, March 14, 2006

A week after the US published a report criticizing regional governments for not doing enough to stem the flow of drugs from the region, the authorities in Guyana seemed to have stepped up security at the airport. The local anti narcotic unit apprehended two mules attempting to leave the country with cocaine. Jamaican, Adrian Siddo was found with a little over three pounds of the substance: some sewn into his under wear and more in his stomach. Following his arrest, Siddo disclosed to officers that he had swallowed condoms filled with the drug. Another Jamaican man had died last year after swallowing cocaine in an attempt to take it out of Guyana. A local woman was also found with the substance wrapped in a condom and placed in her vaginal cavity. Both pled guilty and were sentenced to 3 years. This was in sharp contrast with a University of Guyana student who recently received a suspended sentence for the same crime.

TIME TO UNITE
In the words of a great reggae artiste "it does not matter where you are from as long as you are a black man, you are an African" (Peter Tosh). This identity problem is eating away the heart of the Caribbean. To be fighting every day about who is better than who, is just ridiculous. It is exactly what the white man loves to see. It is a form of mental slavery. We fight and curse each other and they run tings. I agree we sould be proud of our identity, however, the white man dont care where you are from, you are black and is oppressed as such. We all have struggles in the caribbean. Some from flooding, murder, poverty; you name it. Our shared struggle should be a point of unification for the betterment of our region not a means of distinction/ separation. Please, for god sake, let us stop this rivalry in the caribbean. Leave this to the middle east. We are from the good old west indies.

spicy
You see who is on the cover story? It's an indian, a sand nigga lol. That is the reason whay the indians own so much riches in all the caribbean because of drug smuggling and sales. Its time to "crack" down on them. Guyana is a large country yes country not island and is at the center of dropoff for all the south american country that produces cocoa leaves for trade. These other countries know Guyana is one of the few natural rain forest still in existance and they can hide their drugs quite easy without being found out. Everyone might hate guyana and thinks it is not well known. however it is known and loved by everyone in the cocaine world

help is not the word
Toronto Trini seems to be very uneducated. there is alot of drug trade going on in Trinidad too. So I guess Trinidad needs to step up also. It is not where it is happening but that it is effecting all types of people.
